I don't want to read how some writer thinks he did it.
I don't care.
It makes no difference to me whether the money from this book goes to the Goldmans or O.J. It's still a despicable book, albeit one that certainly has the right to be published.
I just don't think there's a need for it to be published. I find it really hard to believe that there are more than a thousand people world-wide who want to read this book.
I thought it would be like Jayson Blair's BURNING DOWN MY MASTER'S HOUSE: My Personal Descent into Madness that Shook the New York Times. I think this sold 1200 copies, all of which were purchased by employees of the Times.

I can't believe they are selling it at Barnes and Noble. So proud of Borders for not selling it...
It saddens me that anyone would WANT to read this.
But then I look at the content of so many reality shows on TV and there it is: Stupidity at its best.

But there are quite a few CourtTV junkies out there.
I think that whatever gene makes Brits into Royal-watchers, that same gene makes Americans into CourtTV junkies. These are the same folk who crave the Dateline real life murder mystery/ subsequent trial shows.
A lot of retirees are crazy about Judge Judy.
These are the people who will buy the Simpson book.
Personally, while no fan of Orenthal, I'm more disturbed by the copyright implications of a judge taking somebody's cough*intellectual property*cough and giving it to someone whom he deems more worthy. That's whack in and of itself. It would have made more legal sense for the judge to keep the book under OJ's control, and then garnish the meager profits away to pay his debts.
But NOW... Now some people will buy the book as a show of support for the Goldman's, knowing the royalties are going in their pocket.
Ms. Lori, I suspect you may be surprised by the numbers.
I've never bought or read a celebrity themed novel/bio/doorstop. Why start with this one? :)
I'd like to see this published just to see how much it flops. I'm watching the success or failure of this book more as a social experiment than anything else.
(I never thought I'd be rooting for a book to flop... well, except for Paris Hilton's memoirs)
I believe Borders is selling it but not "promoting" it, just like B&N.
I won't be buying it either, but I wonder why this country is still talking about O.J. killing his wife and no one has mentioned Robert Blake's name again? Hmmm.... The man was cleared. I wish people would leve him alone. I haven't heard anything else about Scott Peterson either.
Blake and Peterson haven't tried to make money off of the murder with books about how they would have killed their wives...Yet.
Many Brits are not royal-watchers, so perhaps the gene is dying out. We can hope!
Even before the book, Lori, they still talked about him in the media almost daily. They won't leave him alone, with or without a book.
B & N won't stock it in their stores, but it'll be available through their website.
Scott Peterson was convicted and went to prison
Unlike our friend OJ, Blake and Peterson are convicted felons. I believe they cannot profit from their crimes, including making money from a book or movie.

There's a market for trash like this. As noted by another poster, there are the Court TV "junkies." These days you don't have to turn to the tabloids. The network news shows are all about celebrity junk.
Mika Brzezinski showed editorial judgment when she flipped out and tore up the Paris Hilton story, and refused to read that sort of junk on a so-called news show.
It's all entertainment now, appealling to the lowest common denominator in taste.
The book is despicable, but I figure that a lot of people will buy it. True crime stories sell really well in the US, and this falls in that genre even if they say it's a "what if" tale.
I never had a doubt he did it and I certainly will not be buying the book. The thought of it infuriates me!
I can`t figure out what are people looking in stuff like that. O.J. commited a horrible crime and as a result he became a marketing gold hen. Interviews, fame, documentaries and a book now. I worry about the message this is conveying. :(
I will vomit on OJ's book. Does that count?
